Access group page number incorrect when footer overflows to a page without detail records
In my Access Report I reset the group page numbers as described by Microsoft.
Group Header, Force New Page - Before Section
Group Footer, On Format - PageResetHeader
PageResetHeader macro, SetValue Item [Page] Expression 0
The page numbers for each group are correct except in the instances where the group footer winds up on a page without any detail records. On a group where the detail records show on the first 2 pages, but the footer goes to the 3rd, I get Page 1, Page 2, Page 1. (The only thing on the last page of the group is the header and the footer.)
How do I fix this?

Sounds like you need to resize the report to fit on one page. Maybe change the margins? Access is recognizing it as a new report.

Resizing is not feasible. I am billing one or more items per group. Some customers will have only one item in the detail, others may have 2 or 3 pages worth. The next time I bill, the items per customer may change again. No matter how I size the group header, detail records, and group footer, there are going to be times when the detail just happens to force the group footer to a page of its own.
When this happens, the page with only the group header and group footer gets renumbered as page one even if it should really be page 3 or 4 for that particular group (customer).

wwts,
Go into Design View of your report
Right- click anywhere, and choose "Sorting and Grouping"
Select the Grouping you are concerned about
At the bottom of this dialog box set the "Keep Together" property to "Whole Group"
This will keep the footer with the group.
Let me know if this works for you

Thanks, but Keep Together- Whole Group did not make a difference. If there are no detail records on the last page of the group, the page number reverts to 1. Then the next group properly starts with page 1 again. It is as if the program thinks that the page with only a header and footer is a group unto itself.
Perhaps the problem is in how I reset the number? I tried different combinations of force new page and page number reset on both the header and the footer to no avail.
The page numbers are printed in the page header. The group header (customer info) is reprinted on each page. The group footer (the totals) is only printed at the end of all the detail. I tried putting the page numbers in the group header, but that also made no difference.
Thanks again for any suggestions that may solve this problem...

I am having trouble posting the db to ee-stuff. I have zipped it, but it is still 12mb. ee-stuff says the file is too small. Is it acceptable to provide a link to the db for the experts to download, or is there another preferred method? Thanks

Thank you - Here is the link. Pages 8-10, 65-66, 68,69, 199-201 of the report will illustrate the page number problem.
