How to Delete WSS 3.0 solution.

Hi,
I accidentally installed my application template (roomequipmentreservations.wsp) before installing ApplicationTemplateCore.wsp in our WSS 3.0 server. Now both templates are showing up as "Error" in the central administration page.

I tried to retract and delete the solutions/templates, but always get a message saying "a deployment or retraction of the solution is already underway for the solution <template name>...".
Commands used:
stsadm -o retractsolution -name roomequipmentreservations.wsp -immediate
stsadm -o deletesolution -name roomequipmentreservations.wsp

How can I clean these two solutions so I could re-install them properly?

Thanks,
Sharad

Thanks, but it didn't work. In the Central Administration page --> Operations --> Solution Management; both solutions are shown as Error in red.

Our WSS 3.0 is a brand new installation on a new 64Bit HP server and not an upgrade. Thanks,
ok, I figured it out myself. I removed all the solutions and re-deployed them.

Thanks
How did you remove them?  I am having a similar problem with the applicationtemplatecore.wsp.

it's simple. Logon to Sharepoint Central Admin page, click on Operations then Timer Job Definitions.
you will see those solutions listed there are "Failed". Click on the solution link and click on Delete button. Do it for all the failed solutions.

Then click on Operations and then go to solution management --> those solutions will appear as not deployed now instead of "Error". You can redeploy them from here properly. First do the applicationtemplatecore.wsp and then anything else.

I prefer doing it from GUI screen than command line. Hope it will work for you.

Although I resolved the problem on my own, I would however like to give 150 points to dooleydog for answering promptly.
Thanks. Your procedure worked just fine.  I am good to go.

Wow that answer was not an answer to the problem. You cant delete it because when it has an error it just shows back to solutions. So I dont see who anyone should get points, really you all should lose points for giving an answer of removing all solutions as the solution to have one fail. When I fix this issues I will post a real solution..... And I pay for these kind of answers :(
Here is how you can fix the one failed solution.

First navigate to the c:\Programs Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Service Extensions\12\Bin
Then Type
stsadm -o displaysolution -name "yoursolutionnamewithoutquotes"

In that you should see this type of result

<Solution Name="clearviewaddonforsharepoint.wsp">
   <Id>5a4b604e-bd2d-4504-add5-196aff90b66b</Id>
   <File>clearviewaddonforsharepoint.wsp</File>
   <Deployed>TRUE</Deployed>
   <WebApplicationSpecific>FALSE</WebApplicationSpecific>
   <ContainsGlobalAssembly>TRUE</ContainsGlobalAssembly>
   <ContainsCodeAccessSecurityPolicy>FALSE</ContainsCodeAccessSecurityPolicy>
   <SolutionDeploymentJob id="cc6466e7-4635-40a1-b6b3-c3ac9b72b666">
      <Title>Windows SharePoint Services Solution Deployment for "clearviewaddon
forsharepoint.wsp"</Title>
      <Type>Deployment</Type>
      <State>Failed</State>
   </SolutionDeploymentJob>
</Solution>

You need the SolutionDeploymentJob id
So you can run this command

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN>stsa
dm -o canceldeployment -id cc6466e7-4635-40a1-b6b3-c3ac9b72b666

That will cancel the solution so you can delete the solution using the

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN>stsadm -o deletesolution -name "youtsolutionnamewithoutquotes"

Then add and deploy the solution correctly.
If you need any other help with SharePoint WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 please let me
know. I am a development manager and we intergrate with SharePoint using wsp (So lot of time spent with stsadm command line).
I will be posting a rename process for renaming a SharePoint server with out have to lose any documents or settings.
