asked on

Auth-based SMTP on Fedora?

All,

I would like to set up an SMTP Auth server. This server will do nothing but auth-based SMTP (no POP/IMAP/etc)... The user base already exists as a MySQL table on another physical machine.

Distribution of choice by my predecessor was Fedora, so will most likely stick with that to keep things simple.

Can anyone relate their experiences and/or provide any links to docs/how-tos?

Thanks!

Thanks fatblowfish.

This *sounds* like exactly what I need. Unfortunately, I tried following this how-to:

http://www.howtoforge.com/fedora_virtual_postfix_mysql_quota_courier

The idea was that so long as I got postfix working with mysql support, the rest I could tweak as necessary, but I can't even get that to work!

I'm running a FC5 basic install with networking. From there, I followed the how-to precisely and can *not* get postfix to run with MySQL support!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers!!
