Error installing program to unc location on Vista Business

I am trying to install a program to a networked/shared location.

The error:
Invalid directory name specified or the removable media specified is not properly inserted

The workstation is a Vista Business box, and the server is running MS Server 2003 sp1.  I have done this install to the app server many times 25-30 using winxp.  During installation when propted to enter the path for installation I type \\servername\apps\programname.  This is a valid directory and I can browse to it and poke around using the Vista pc (create dir and files etc).  I have tried to run the program "as administrator" in Vista.  Any ideas what is going wrong?

Thanks for your time.

Thanks JamesCssl for responding.  Although your proposed solution would work, in my opinion, the vendor advised me not to give it a try. If the istall failed, and toased the server, i would be in a uncomfortable position......

Thanks for your help and enjoy your points!

Me Too!  I ended up installeing a copy of xp pro on a dell that came preinstalled with Vista business....  All is working and that is what is important (Monday Deadline).

Let me know if you come across anyting.  The vendor is supposed to contact me with Vista info.  They are beginning their Vista training this coming week or so.....  A little behind I would say.
