Windows 2000 mixed server and Windows 2003 -- setting up a trust

We just acquired another company. They have their own domain and we have our own. We want to be able to access resources on either domain. We are talking about setting up a trust relationship.

They are running Windows 2003 native and we are running Windows 2000 mixed (even though the server is Small Business 2003). None of our other servers are Windows 2000 but Windows 2003.

How would we go about setting up a trust?  I am worried about conditional forwarding of DNS and the amount of traffic that it might produce. I heard Windows 2000 doesnt support 2000.  Is this true?

You won't, sorry. SBS doesn't support trusts at all, so that settles the issue.

Why is it giving me the option in AD Sites and Trusts. I have an option to add a new trust.

It says Windows 2003 Standard Edition. My Systems Admin thinks it was upgraded.

Because SBS is server 2003 it gives you the trust option but it won't work.

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).
