asked on

CR11 & Excel- How can to make Field Names the same as what is shown in header row?

I am working in Crystal Reports 11 trying to pull data from an Excel Spreadsheet.

When I grab data from Excel for my report, it pulls the field names in as F2, F3 etc instead of the header rows.  The only field that is ever assigned a name and the name is wrong- is F1- for some reason CR11 pulls this from the Excel Spreadsheet Name & Sheet title.

I have to beleive this is something very simple that I am missing- can someone please help me?

Thanks!

Did you include the header row in the named range identifying the table?

Kevin-

I can't seem to figure out how to do that- It has been some time since I tried to capture data from an Excel Spreadsheet through CR11.  When I went into CR11 and started report- I added the sheet and then selected the fields I wanted included.  I only wanted what is in the print preview area, but I can't seem to get that to work- I had to select the whole sheet.  What am I missing here?  Something simple, I'm sure.

Kevin-

I will give this a try- I guess your comments above explain why I couldn't use Print_Area.

I will get back to you and let you know one way or the other if it works. Thanks
