Google supplemental results

Hi.  I am a developer for www.theravive.com.  This site was submitted to Google Sep 30, 2006.  All content on the site is 100% original (not copied anywhere).   These pages are showing as supplemental in google:
www.theravive.com/services/over-eating.htm
www.theravive.com/services/communication-marriage.htm
www.theravive.com/services/parent-teen.htm
www.theravive.com/services/adultery-help.htm

these pages all have excellent, very informative professionally written content.  Why are they relegated to the Google trash can?  I don't understand how they could be written any better....what improvement should I make to improve these pages?

There is no specific answer.  Optimizing your site for the search engines (SEO - search engine optimization) is an ongoing process.  If you take the time to do it properly, you will see results over time including seeing more pages indexed, etc.

Having looked at your site, there is still a lot you can do.  Review this SEO tutorial - www.seo-blog.com/tutorial.php - and you will have a good grasp of SEO fundamentals.  If you apply them, you will see the results you are looking for and more.

i already own the seobook from seobook.com.  If there is a lot i can do that you can see....what for example?  Im happy with the rank of the homepage considering we've been online for only 5 months.  but my specific question is not SEO in general, but the specific pages that are in supplemental.  what can be done to those pages to get them out of supplemental?
"but my specific question is not SEO in general, but the specific pages that are in supplemental.  what can be done to those pages to get them out of supplemental?"

The question isn't really valid because there is no checklist to follow to get those specific pages out of the supplemental results.  What you need to do is improve the overall optimization.  One of the many good results that will come from that is that getting those pages out of the supplemental results.

I'm not trying to be discouraging.  This looks like it has the potential to be a quality site that is also well-ranked.  But you have some work to do ...

"If there is a lot i can do that you can see....what for example?"

At first glance, the obvious things are ... you should add a DOCTYPE declaration, refine your keyword research, validate your code, externalize your CSS and javascript, get rid of the tables, add suitable alt tags to your images, use Google Sitemaps, include outgoing links to high-quality websites with information useful to your users, and engage in a responsible and ongoing link building campaign.
good advice...but what does having tables have to do with SEO?  getting rid of tables off a site built on tables is a daunting task....are you sure that having tables is a negative hit against SEO?
also, what do you mean by "validate my code?"

wow fabulous answer.  worth 1000 points but can only give 500.  your answer was the most expensive I've ever had on EE.  i desiged the pages in Front Page, but it is too obsolete to do what you suggested.   Bought Dreamweaver 8 (400 bucks) and am hiring a programmer on elance to take the homepage of my site and reprogram it into tableless CSS XHTML.  Once I have the homepage done (as a template) I can then go to all the remaining pages and redo them.  A LOT of work, but am doing exactly what you suggest.
Thank you for the kind words.  You will be happy with the results and the long term benefits.  If you run into difficulties, well ... that's what EE is for :)

Best wishes with the site and thanks for the A.
