new windows minimizes to task bar
I have a dual monitor display using nVidia Desktop Manger. Whenever I have a browser window open and then open a new window, the window will open and then immediately minimize to the task bar. I'm uisng XP and Internet Explorer 7. I don't have any viruses, I checked that. It seems to be a nView setting or a browser window setting?
Anyone know how to correct this?
Thanks for any help.

When you open IE from the desktop or Quick Launch - does it hide then?

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for replying to my post.
Yes, I typically open IE from the Quick Launch and it opens and then immediately minimizes. So, my original browser window is still visible.
Once it is open I can click back and forth between each window and they remain open just fine and behave normally.
It is just when I open a second window that it immediately minimizes?? I can't figure out the setting that is causing this.

Hi Ryan,
Hmmm...well, I tried setting the shortcut to maximized, but the second window still minimizes immediately after opening.
Anything else I should look for?
Thanks for your help.
Regards.

if you only did it for one shortcut - you might try it on the others that are around
i'll look for something else though. If the window was just small and you wanted it maximised I reckon i could fix that - just the fact that it's always minimising is a little more puzzling.
You could also try going to Internet Properties - Advanced tab - and clicking the Reset button.

Hi Ryan,
I have nView Desktop Manager software that came with my graphics card, which enables me to setup dual monitor display. I might be wrong, but I think there is a setting in the nView software that is causing this?
Are you familiar with nView Desktop Manager? I'm been looking at the options and trying different settings, but still have the same problem occurring.

When I open IE it launches to my main screen (monitor #1) fine. But, when I open another browser window it launches to my main screen (monitor #1) and then immediately minimizes to the task bar.
It's weird...it doesn't happen every time. It is behaving like the first browser window has precedence and forces any addtional browser window to minimize immediately to the task bar.
Now, I can click on the second browser window in the task bar and it maximizes fine and I can view the window. This just seems to be happening when initially open a second window.
Bizarre? I can't figure it out.

The bizarre thing is that there is an option that controls EXACTLY what you are talking about - minus one difference - it controls whether opening new tabs get focus or to keep focus on the current tab.
Did you try resetting IE7?

I haven't tried resetting IE7. Do you mean re-installing? Or, is there a reset feature like restoring the defaults? I havne't made really any major customizations. The tabbed browser works fine when I'm surfing in one window.
It only occurs when I open a new window...geez, what an annoying problem.

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab>Reset button
if the above does not help , try uninstalling IE 7 and try number 6 again, or firefox

Hi Ryan,
Well, I tried resetting IE7 and that didn't work. Then I tried re-installing IE7. Still the same thing occurs. I'm not sure what else to try. I appreciate your help. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks again.
