Adding capability to website to recieve money / donations

Experts,

I am in the process of designing a website for a friend who works for a charity. He has asked that there be the option for people to make donation online, and / or select an item to buy (christmas card etc max 10 items) and pay for it via the website.

This is totally new to me, ive never had to anything like this before. Im aware there are thrid party providers out there... can anyone advise how best to incorporate this into the web site. The site its self is written in ASP and is dynamically created using the contents of a database. Ideally i would like for it to look like they havent left the site when they go to pay for an item or make a donation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whilst I agree fully with Clever Bob I feel I must point out that paypal do charge very high fees, particularly if the donations are small. Their fees can be found here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-receiving-fees-outside

Typically in the region of 3% + $0.30 for most transactions.
