I am running Symantec Backup Exec 10d and Oracle 10g connected to an EMC with ASM configured. I am trying to get a backup to run from Symantec Backup Exec but am encountering issues because of the raw file format used by Oracle ASM. My Oracle backup agent wants a directory to be listed for the archive logs and control files. They show up as +Group1 in ASM but the Oracle agent rejects this as in invalid directory location.
When I try to schedule the backp in Symantec Backp Exec I can see all of the tablespaces, they all list their location as +Group1/tablespace_name.
Is there a way to get Symantec Backup Exec to backup an Oracle 10g Server using ASM? Symantec Backup Exec is installed on a seperate server from Oracle and its SAN. I am backuping up numerous other systems but they are all 9i databases which store their files in NTFS format.
thanks,
jude
