Exchange SMTP Attachment Size Log...

Hi!

Does anybody know if Windows Server 2003 sp1/ Exchange Server 2003 / SP2 has the ability to record and report all messages sent with an attachment?  I was asked to provide a report that shows what the average sending size for all email attachments was.  We are trying to implement attachment size limitations and would like to have a grasp on what we average per day / week / etc.

TIA!

I know exactly where you are coming from but a simple Average wont be useful.

You need to create a distribution of attachment sizes being sent so that you can tell what is the 90 or 95 percentile size.

You can then allow this size such that only 5% of emails being sent would be blocked.

I've had to raise my limit to 15Mb recently for both in and out . And done some training on how and why to breakup into 5Mb messages.

robberbaron - What exactly to you mean when you say "create a distribution of attachment sizes being sent..."  I'm not sure I follow.

Thanks!
