Software to analyze eye iris photos

Hello all.

I am looking for a Windows application to analyze eye iris pictures. The software should be able to identify the iris inside the picture I've taken (they are close-up photos of eyes) and then analyze the colors and identify differences between different pictures. Some case specific pattern matching software would do I guess, as long as it can help me analyze the pictures. Please share all your suggestions. Thank you.

Do you want Biometric Analysis software or are you trying to start from scratch using a graphics type package?

If you are serious about Iris Pattern recognition you need to read the definative paper on recognition algorithms

Commercial iris pattern recognition systems for biometric identification are not cheap and require scanning hardware: http://www.findbiometrics.com/tech-showcases/viewshowcase.php?showcase_id=10&sc_title=Iris+Recognition

This is for an iridology project, nothing to do with high level security. Any software that can find the number and value of color changes as well as produce some color maps, is right for this project. I just need to find the differences between different iris pictures. Thank you.

Thanks - sorry bit focused on security issues ;)

Again though are you interested in commercial iridology applications or is this more about building something from graphics applications?  I guess I'm asking if there is a budget for this.

It's for a non-commercial project so any free or trial version would do. I just want to get some numbers from those pictures, like percentage of difference etc.

For example I am currently playing around with Color By Number by Stoik (http://www.stoik.com/hobby/colorbynumber.htm) which helps a lot, but I am wondering if there are any tools out there that are more case specific.

I don't see how color by number helps, but...

You could do this manually using the GIMP, but I doubt you are going to find anything free or trial version for something of this complexity. Let us know if you find something, though.

Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations. Computer software consists of programs, libraries and related non-executable data (such as documentation). Computer software is non-tangible, contrasted with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Software written in a machine language is known as "machine code". However, in practice, software is usually written in high-level programming languages than machine language. High-level languages are translated into machine language using a compiler or interpreter or a combination of the two.
