rboyd is correct - there appears to be the option to set it if you go to Tools/Options then go to Text Editor/All Languages/Tabs and select Smart under Indenting but this appears to only work for XML formatting as the plain text option has it greyed out and unavailable.<br />

Having said that - visual studio 2005 (including any of the express versions) do have smart indenting for Transact SQL and it is easy to access the database from within this environment through the database explorer so if that is what you are after - use that over the management studio.<br />
