Copied Win2k Profile no icons or ability for Ctrl-Alt-Del

Transferring from one domain to another we copy user profiles from C:\Documents and Setting\OLDUSER to NEWUSER. We have a few select computers that when you log in after the copy, the desktop wallpaper comes up but not icons, no ability to Ctrl-Alt-Delete. The Profiles on these computer are rather large but we moved the large directories to the root of C:. Still only get the wallpaper and mouse. Also cannot right click on desktop. These are all Win2k machines that have the problems. We have been able to migrate other Win2k boxes without problem.

The initial login as the user (prior to profile copy) works fine

Is the computer still a member of the domain?

It looks like the file versions from source to destination computers are different.

How are you copying the profiles?  Can you copy the profiles in their entirety, and then paste it to the new computer.  After which, map the user to the copied profile.

The computer is now a member of the new domain. We go to C:\Documents and Settings\OldUser Select All and Copy go to C:\Documents and Settings\NewUser and Paste overwriting the files. Works on most of the computers except these 6 or so.
Have you tried copying from the system proerties, profiles option.

Using System Properties, Copy Profiles, our original problem was once you join the new domain, the profiles from the old domain would just show up as SID numbers which you cannot copy. So, while still in the original domain, we copied the profile to a local user. Joined the new domain and copied the profile from the local user to the new user. Unfortunately we still have the same problem.

Windows 2000

Windows 2000 is an operating system for use on both client and server computers. It is the successor to Windows NT 4.0, and is the last version of Microsoft Windows to display the "Windows NT" designation. Four editions of Windows 2000 were released (Professional, Server, Advanced Server, and Datacenter Server) that shared a core set of features, including many system utilities such as the Microsoft Management Console. All versions of the operating system support NTFS 3.0, Encrypting File System, as well as basic and dynamic disk storage. The Windows 2000 Server family includes support for Active Directory services, Distributed File System and fault-redundant storage volumes.
