I am running TrendMicro Internet Security 2007 and it identifies Quicktimes' qttask.exe (7.1.4) as a &quot;RAP_Generic&quot; as high risk spyware &quot;allow users to access and manipulate remote systems&quot;. &nbsp;I am assumming it is safe, but does RAP mean the machine (mine here) can access/manipulate other systems, or that they can access/manipulate mine (which scares me). &nbsp;They don't provide a list of safe or unsafe, or real guidance as to how to decide. &nbsp;Advice anyone?

I am assumming it is safe, but does RAP mean the machine (mine here) can access/manipulate other systems, or that they can access/manipulate mine (which scares me).  They don't provide a list of safe or unsafe, or real guidance as to how to decide.  Advice anyone?

What can RAP programs do and how do I know which are safe and which are real spyware?

Operating system security (OS security) is the process of ensuring OS integrity, confidentiality and availability. Anti-spyware is software that removes or blocks that software; some common vendors include Malwarebytes, McAfee, Spybot-Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware and BitDefender.

A vulnerability is a weakness which allows an attacker to reduce a system's information assurance. Vulnerability is the intersection of three elements: a system susceptibility or flaw, attacker access to the flaw, and attacker capability to exploit the flaw. To exploit a vulnerability, an attacker must have at least one applicable tool or technique that can connect to a system weakness, known as the attack surface. Vulnerability management is the cyclical practice of identifying, classifying, remediating, and mitigating vulnerabilities. Other vulnerabilities include security risks, security defects and constructs in programming languages that are difficult to use properly.
