Dis-Location of Desktop Icons

Is there a way to "Save" the location of the Desktop Icons? Every now & then especially after changing screen resolutions or running certain software, my desktop icons (Windows XP SP2) all become moved over to the left side of the screen, & aligned in columns. I want to be able to revert back to where I had them!!  Maybe by backing up the desktop folder, or are the icon locations stored elsewhere? Like in the Registry?
Please help !

The desktop arrangement is in your Documents and Settings under your user name in  folder named Desktop . . You could try copying that folder somewhere else to be copied back after a resolution change . . don't really know if it will work or not

This page, although it mostly references Windows NT, says the solution works for XP too:

bleggee,

If the above does not work, Save Desktop Icons Pos. will work on Windows XP. The utility is free try.

Any solution is good, but I struck out so far. Any other help is appreciated. Here's what I ran into:
LEETUTOR - I tried the "Force a Save" per the article ... doesn't seem to work on my XP SP2 system.  I moved a few icons, clicked on the desktop, hit f-5 to save (nothing happened), then powered off (on my practice system of course!).  The icons/desktop was not saved ... icons reverted back to their orig positions.
To test the articles other option, I created the .reg file & ran it. It added the new Registry Key just fine, but again, did not prevent saving of the icon positions when I rebooted normally.
WAR1 - That Util sounds like a great one, howeve also looks like it didn't worl in XP (at least for me). Althoughtheor site says it "does not work in 2000/NT/XP", I gave it a try anyway. Installed it, ignore "Caution - Use at your own risk in 2000/NT/XP", it installed Ok but I got all kind of run-time errord trying to use it.
ALL - Thanks in advance for any other ideas to help ...
