Hotfixes fail, why? You too maybe?

Experts Exchange

I find that these MS Installed Hotfix numbers, below, fail quite often, on my computer (I use the freely available, Belarc Adviser 7.2a, Computer Profile Summary, with current definitions installed, to help monitor my computer). Does anyone have any idea, why they fail maybe? I thought it maybe to do with uninstalling other software, but apparently not so, in my experience to date. Are you in the same boat perhaps? Also it is very rare that any other MS Hotfix fails on my computer: plus all the MS Hotfixes updates are current, too. Is there an interplay between these two Hotfixes?

Security Update for Windows XP
KB902400
A remote code execution security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise your Windows-based system and gain control over it.

Network Diagnostic Tool
KB914440
The Network Diagnostics for Windows XP tool analyzes information about your network connectivity to help you troubleshoot network-related problems with your computer.

I use XP Home SP 2, IE 7 + Google with  LAN, ADSL2+. I am a home (student) user.
I have the current 2007 Kaspersky Internet Security 6, in place,
My desktop computer is well maintained - and still in extended warranty. I have done a full computer scan with XP Repair Pro 2007, so on logically. I cannot find any clue on the MS website, or their forums either.  I cannot see any error reports for them either, i e , they just fade away in the night, so to speak!

And, the Solution is, to why they fail - if any?
*THANKS

"Fail always" is fine. About once a month they need to be re-installed as indicated by Belarc Adviser 7.2a. Eg, maybe other MS Hotfixes, scans, adware,  downloads .... whatever, compromise them or interfere with their operation. In anycase they need to be re-installed. Apparently, it's not uncommon that hotfixes or patches fail. I am just curious why these two may, e g, are they inter-connected in some way. Does it indicate a problem, virus, or are they out-dated, so on, logically. Check yours too!? Thanks.
