PC Fax. Event ID: 32079, please explain. Lexmark MFC x6100 series. Configuration.

Experts Exchange

PC FAX
I want to send a PC FAX, but my attempts to send PC Faxes, simply see them land in the Fax Console, Outbox, as unsent. I have a Lexmark MFC, X 6170 which includes PC Faxing software, with a dial-up (analogue) modem, in the Lexmark, to enable PC Faxing (broadband cannot send faxes).

ERROR MESSAGE
I need to know what this means?*
Event ID - 32079

An error was encountered while preparing to send the fax. The service
will not attempt to resend the fax. Please close other applications before resending.

In Start, Settings, Printers and Faxes has all the relevant software, including Lexmark plus the Microsoft XPS writer. In Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Modem - the Lexmark analogue modem is correctly configured as 33 600 Mbps. (I also scanned for Hardware Changes, there.). I also downloaded the latest Lexmark x6170 driver (2003), and the relevant patch is in place, both from the Lexmark website, successfully. I have also explored through the Fax Console, Fax Send, Fax Cover Page Editor, in order to be sure, I have done all I can. I know how to use the Fax Printer option/s. The Lexmark analogue modem is also on the current Microsoft – Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), under the Lexmark x6100 series.

In Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, under the Advanced tab, the Lexmark modem is also correctly set at 33 600 Mbps. However, in Phone and Modem, Advanced, it is only the Microsoft H.323 Telephony Provider Service and the NDIS TAPI Provider Service, that are are able to be configured. Is that correct? OK? (The Configure box does not activate, for the others, of which there are 7 in all.).

In Administrative Tools, Services, Fax was started, as was; LexBce Server; Routing and Remote Access; Printer Spooling; ... which are all needed to send a (PC) Fax.  *Maybe, someone has a check-list of all the Services that should be running to send a Fax PC? Also in Administrative Tools, Services, Fax, I  checked that the Fax dependencies were correct.

I have applied p 61 of the provided Lexmark User's Guide too, where the steps to send a PC are set-out. I also have left the Lexmark X6170 installation disk in the Drive D, as I attempt to send, in the hope it may assist. The Error Logs, are set out, above.

This is the information from the Microsoft Help and Support Center, Events and Error Messages Centre, Archive, regarding Event ID: 32079: -

There is no additional information about this issue in the Error and Event Log Messages or       Knowledge Base databases at this time. You can use the links in the Support area to       determine whether any additional information might be available elsewhere."

This Event ID 32079 number comes up about 810 times on Google.com. However, I cannot find a solution. It does not appear here on Experts Exchange, as best as I can tell either. I have sought help from Lexmark too, but the problem remains - alas, there is no Lexmark user forum. The website is www.lexmark.com/ -

This is some background on this model Lexmark X6170 MFC here:

MY OPERATING SYSTEM
I have VOIP also. I have one telephone line through the phone connection doubler, to the Lexmark x6170, then to the phone with a Netcomm MicroFilter, and the other phone line from the doubler, directly to the Netcomm NB 5 Modem. *It works!

I am a home (student) user. My Dell GX 260 desktop computer is well maintained - and still in extended warranty. I use XP Home SP 2, LAN (Ethernet), ADSL2+ with IE 7 + Google. (The broadband modem is a NB5 Netcomm.). Cords, cables, ...  are configured correctly. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 6, plus all the Microsoft Hotfixes and patches are current, too.  I do an occasional full computer scan with XP Repair Pro 2007, Microsoft Live OneCare Safety Scanner, Dell PC Checker, so on logically.

SUMMARY
I am aware of various fax software packages, including free ones, but suggestions are welcome.
Can I use the Windows XP Fax, to send a PC Fax with Lexmark software in place?
Should I delete one, to use the other?
In Phone and Modem Options, Advanced, what is the Service Providers correct configuration?
Which Services need to be on?

And, the overall Solution is for Event ID32079? If any?

*THANKS
Robert
