asked on

Outlook email while traveling.

How can I send email using outlook while traveling.  When I'm in the office there is no problem.  When I travel, my access to the internet is either wireless provided by the place where I'm staying or I may have to use a dial up (heaven forbid).  In either case, I'm not able to send email using Outlook as mail client but instead I have to send throught web mail.  I can receive in Outlook but cannot send.  The same scenario would apply at Airports or other Hot Spots.

Greetings, tkellyt !

Your SMTP server that you setup in Outlook is not available in all areas.  You need to change to an SMTP server that works in your area or you need to use webmail.

Some ISP you cannot blocks your SMTP server.  You can try alternate SMTP port 587 to send emails.

Best wishes!

You can also check if your office provides a VPN capability (check with your system or network administrator), or RPC over HTTP (http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/outlookrpchttp.html)

ASKER

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I wasn't able to get the suggestions to work.  I ended using a smtp relay server.

Thanks
