SBS 2000/2003 R2 This computer cannot be upgraded to the OEM version of Small Business Server

Getting this message when trying to upgrade Windows 2000 SBS to Windows 2003 SBS SP1.
This computer cannot be upgraded to the OEM version of Small Business Server

I have seen similar problems for Windows 2003 SBS to Windows 2003 SBS SP1 but not from upgrading from Windows SBS 2000. As far as I know, the 2000 SBS is an OEM version, it came with the OEM pre-installation kit disks so I assume so.

I have SBS 2000 SP4

I don't see a way to get around this one.... it's basically a limitation enforced by the software.
I'd try this:

notice this post.
FYI, issue was resolved by changing hklm\software\microsoft\smallbusinessserver\isrunfromweb from 0x0 to 0x1 This may have been triggered due to the initial attempt at the installation of the SBS SP not having the prerequisite SP's. I hope this helps the other people who have posted about this issue. I will post if my install doesnt go all the way through, but so far it looks pretty good.

Have a look at www.sbsmigration.com instead.
This will allow you to keep your AD and still use a fresh copy (also oem) of SBS 2003.
Hope that helps,
