Event ID 7023 The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error:

Win XP Home SP2 with McAfee Security and Earthlink dial-up.
Trying to eliminate this from event viewer.
I don't really see any problems that this is causing, but it needs to be resolved.

Thanks,
Mr442

don't seem to have any problems now.
What is IPSEC service and is it always on by default or is some application responsible?

Thank you!
Going by this
http://www.theeldergeek.com/ipsec_services.htm

"Primarily a host authentication device used with data transfer and encryption operations on a domain."

My understanding is it's used for encrypted data like with VPN or the such.
For normal PC's it's just added overhead giving you no real benifit.

Microsoft in their infinate wisdom thought people would benifit from it being Automatic, but they have made alot of incorrect assumptions about what services should be started. LOL!

Thank you for solution and explanation.
No worries.

Well the good thing is with setting it to Manual (as opposed to disabled) means if Windows really does need it because something depends on it, windows can start it without you needing to do a thing.
