asked on

website optimisation

Hello,

How does search egine optimisation work. We want to be first on google and yahoo and this company said that they have to work hard on our site so they would need 7-8 hours a day. I did explain that i made and manage the site but wanted a comapany to put with first on google.

Is this company lying to me and trying to make money.

I can appreciate that maintanance must be checked frequantly but 7-8 hours a day for around 7 months and then down to 5-6 hours a day thereafter.

Your second link (www.creativedesignsolutions.es/search-engine-optimisation-tips.htm) is a good example of the kind of misinformation that exists about SEO and search engines.  Much of the info on that page is either misleading or just plain wrong.

Your third link (www.gateway-pages.com/top-10-search-engine-ranking.php) is just plain dangerous!  Google (and others) specifically recommend against using doorway pages and cloaking.  They're a pretty sure way to harm your page rankings.  Using an automated bit of software like that which creates doorway pages, uses cloaking, etc. is a huge mistake - just plain dumb, in fact.

You've been around EE long enough that you should know better than to post that kind of nonsense.
lol it is meant to drive the point home looks like it succeeded with you.
