Add a button that displays a simple alert dialog message

I have a simple midlet that creates and then display a list of file items. This code works well. I would like to add a button that displays a simple alert dialog message that can be dismissed by clicking a button on the dialog screen. Can anybody assist. Please give some sample code if possible.
