There must be an autorun set to these drives to run copy.exe somehow. You should disable autorun for these drives. Link below describes how.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/shellcc/platform/shell/programmersguide/shell_basics/shell_basics_extending/autorun/autoplay_reg.asp

When you right-click the drive, is any text in the menu bold?  Also, does this happen with folders too, or just the drives?

Then it sounds like MrHusy is right.  Right-click the drive this is happening with, and select "Open".  Once you're in the drive, look for a file called "autorun.inf".  Open the file in notepad, and post it's contents in here.  Once you do that, delete the file and your drive should open correctly again.

After you do that, I would scan all your drives for viruses.

       *Start>Run
        *Type regedit and press enter
        *Locate HK_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
*At the right pane Double-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun
*Change the value as 8. Click OK. Then restart your computer.

By this way, you wont see that happen again although autorun.inf exist in your partitions.

Check this registry key, is the (default) value set to anything besides "none"?

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
