HP SIM 5 Console not accessible after changing to a new IP address

I have installed HP SIM 5 on a server. It is up and running, but when I change the IP address of the server, the HP SIM console is no longer accessible from a remote PC. "Check HTTP server status" pops up when I try to access the console from the server directly. In the hpvmmsvc.log, "INFO   | jvm 1    | 2007/03/19 14:53:13 | Exec: iscsicli VersionInfo  exception #1: CreateProcess: iscsicli VersionInfo error=2
INFO   | jvm 1    | 2007/03/19 14:54:08 |  INFO - SIM SOAP 5.0 access failed." are captured. Please advise what configuration in the HP SIM 5 needs to be changed  or what needs to be reinstalled in order to access the console with the new IP address. Thank you.

Has this been tried... from the local server open a browser and enter the IP address followed by the :280 i.e.
http:\\ipaddress:280 
has the local and remote dns cache's  been clear?

Has the DNS forward and reverse lookup been reviewed and or updated?

Hi 65td,

Tried http://ipaddress:280 but it doesnt work. Do a ipconfig /flushdns, doesnt help either. Check the DNS, forward and reverse lookup are updated.

Still see the error message "INFO   | jvm 1    | 2007/03/19 14:54:08 |  INFO - SIM SOAP 5.0 access failed"
Is there anything in the HP SIM configuration needs to be changed? If I revert to the original IP address, everything works for me. Please advise. Thank you.

On the management staion from a command prompt, do any of the mx... commands work?
such as mxnode
Are the HP SIM services running and from task manager is mxdomainmgr.exe seen?

I think you found the problem.
mxnode is not working for me. I got the error "There was problem connecting to the HP Systems Insight Manager Server. Make sure that:
1. Your username has been added to HP Systems Insight Manager.
2.Your username and password, if specified, are corectly spelled.
3. HP Systems Insight Manger is running.
4. You used '--' for any long options and double quotes if your username includes a domain.
Example: <commandname> --user "mydomain\myusername" --pass mypassword"

Option 1 to 3 are correct for my case but I dont understand what option 4 means.

Also mxdomainmgr.exe is not running. How do I start that? Thanks!

From Computer Management can you start "HP Systems Insight Manager", in the Application event log review  HP Systems Insight Manager errors.

I got the error "com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error loading database verification handler 'com.hp.mx.database.MsSqlVerificationHandler'
com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error accessing database"

How do I resolve it?

Hi 65td, do you have a workaround solution for me? If not then I will reinstall the OS and set the correct IP address before I install HP SIM 5. Do get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you.

Is the database on the same machine?
What database is it using express or full blown (sql2005)?

Hi 65td, the database is on the same machine.
I selected the default sql installation on HP SIM 5. Not sure whther it is express or full installation of sql.

The default is express, the database maybe hooped.  SQL usally does like the IP to change.
You could try just removing the database and reinstalling it.
The best thing to do is remove and reinstall, for the time it takes.  
Then everything is clean, remove everything including the DB, Open SSH, Pegasus WMI and SIM.
Is this the final IP?

No this is not the final IP. Since there is no choice, I will do the reinstallation once the IP address is finalised. Thanks.

If have the time you try playing around with db.
We run an remote db.

Try looking in the registry under:
 HKey_Local_Machine\software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib\TCP\IP1

Also have a look under program file\Microsft SQLServer\MSSQL\log
And review the error log.
