Network Copier and Server 2K3

We have a Savin 2045 Network Copier, Fax, Scanner, and Printer.  The scanner is configured to use the SMB protocol to transfer files to a network share.  Since our upgrade to SB2K3, you get a network error when trying to scan.  I assume this is due to added security not available\configured on Server 2K.  Anyone out there know how to configure SMB, restore this functionality on Server 2K3? ...Does anyone know how to configure a Savin 2045 to send scan jobs via e-mail rather than SMB?

Thanks!

It sounds like you're not using a valid user account on your Savin for delivering the files to your server.  You could either a) input a proper username and password into your Savin, or b) enable the guest account on the server, and give it write permissions to the share you are wanting to send the files to.

I would opt for option a) since option b) is a security risk, however the choice is yours.

Sorry I'm not familiar with how to configure the Savin in particular, so I'm of no help when it comes to sending e-mail with it.

Bill,
Thanks for the response.  For each user with scan capabilities, they have an address book "profile" that stores their UN and PW along with the destination folder to put scan jobs.  Since the upgrade, it does not work if I use my domain admin account or an individual user account.  That is why I was thinking it was a protocol or port issue that was being blocked.  Thanks.
In that case, perhaps try entering the username in the address book as domainname\username ?

that does not work either.  It just beeps and then the LCD panel says "Sending the data has failed".  You also don't get an error report that tells why it could not send (i.e. authentication problem, etc.)...nice!  Thanks.

The Savin copiers require a firware update for compatibility with Server 2K3.  Please close this questions.
