One of our users is having an issue with Excel  One of the files she opens consistently locks up the program.  She was able to use it in the morning and now it will keep an hourglass cursor in Excel.  I am able to move the window but not able to access any features.  The file will open on other machines just fine, just not hers.  Also, if I go to the Run command line and do "excel /safe" the file will open successfully.  There are no add-ins being used in conjunction with Excel.  The file has no macros or links.  Other files open on her machine succesfully.

We use Excel 2000 on Windows XP SP2 machines.

First download this program http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/filemon.mspx
Start it up and then open the problematic excel file in the machine that has the problem.

Look in Filemon what is happening in the computer file system, and observe if there is a missing file or some other kind of problem.

If you cannot solve this on your own, paste in here the results from filemon.
