cisco vpn on vista:   reason 442: failed to enable adapter

I have vista ultimate trying to run cisco vpn client 5.0.00.0090 (their lastest beta for vista).  It worked fine for a couple of weeks now ever time I try to connect I get this message:

Secure VPN connection terminated locally by the client.
Reason 442: Failed to enable Adapter.

I did the usual reboot, then uninstalled and reinstalled.  No luck.  Maybe a windows update broke it?  I haven't installed any other software.

How many nics do you have and do you run any of these programs as well and what versions of them. Citrix, wireshark, ethereal.

for a more perminant fix read this article. Cisco is releasing a patch/update that will resolve this and a 412 issue that vista has with your application. Enjoy. Release should be ready in the AM tomorrow.
