IE Explorer Hangs in windows 2000

Hello i have a fresh install of win 2000 pro. I have installed all updates and patches. Now when i attempt to access windows update site it just hangs.  any ideas

1) manually download and install sp4
2) Manually download the IE6 update and install it.

then everything should work OK.

I have already done that.
I have solved it. It was my antivirus software. As soon as i disabled it away it went.
