MySql: GUI for Geocities?

A few years ago, my apartment caught fire.  Good thing was, that I had to stay at my friends house and all I did was read a ColdFusion book, and learn how to use MS Access.  After a month, I was really comfortable coding a database-driven site with that language.  Now, I'm doing something on Geocities, but from what I gather the only GUI for MySql is the one that exists in my mind's eye.  

Without being able to actually see the database (like with MS Access) I'm pretty much useless.
Because it is open-software, is the use of a GUI an abomination to the community?  Is there a GUI
for me or do I have to spend a few days coding a web based GUI in PHP?

Domain hosting is very cheap these days and you can purchase it and then use. But make sure that package has PHP / MYSQL features.
