Icon in the tab that shows up in IE 7

Can you please tell me how the icon shows up on the tab in IE7.  

Specifically http://www.textronfasteningsystems.com/  you can see the icon on the right.  is this a server side script - where is the jpg or bmp residing.  - how would I do the same thing in code?  is this a Ref?  Please give me more information --is this assigned automatically by the browser or does it have to be programmed?

there are also sites that will generate the favicon image for you, you don't need to any of the image work unless you wanted to:
