Translating the portal (localization)

I need to start translating my portal into another languages (now available only english but am looking for adding the arabic, france...). Am using asp.net 1.1 Am looking for using the localization and resources for this operation, i dont have experience in this field so i would be thankful ifi can get some help (documents, URLs, code samples...)
