Migrate Citrix PS 3.0 to PS 4.0 or 4.5 question

Currently we run Citrix PS 3.0 on Windows 2003. The way it design are: users connect through secure web server which had CSG 2.0 (located at DMZ), then connect to STA, and then connect to PS 3.0 Farm. All servers are running windows 2003.

I am looking for to upgrade these server to Citrix PS 4.0 or 4.5, I have several question and would like to ask for your recommendation:

1. Do I need to upgrade CSG from 2.0 to 3.0 in order to run with PS 4.0 or 4.5?
2. Should I upgrade PS 3.0 to 4.0 (or 4.5) first before I upgrade CSG or vice versa?
3. Where can I found the steps-by-steps or documentation about this project?

Thank you very much for your help.

1. not sure about 4.5 but it will work with 4.0.  There are some changes you will have to make though, specifically in the STA service.  This is now included with the install of 4.0 so you don't need a separate server/service.  You'll have to change your CSG to now point to the XML port of your 4.0 servers for this.

2. I would upgrade PS before I upgrade CSG.  Basically to make sure everything internally is working correctly before you jump into the external SSL access.  But I would definitely recommend upgrading your CSG.  If you have a spare server you could get the new CSG running at the same time as your old one.  Just do a parallel upgrade and then when you are ready change over.
