this question involves crystal reports,
I've been getting this error when trying to add a stored procedure to a crystal report:
Crystal report activex designer
Database Connector error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server'
The stored procedure works fine by itself and a at one point it worked well with the crystal report, but now I am getting this error

i basically open up crystal report go to the database expert, go to my odbc (rdo), go into the appropriate database, and got to the stored procs. I click on the stored proc that i want and there are arrow buttons on the center of the window  and click on that forward button. and that error pops up

This is when you try to create a new report?
Sounds like either a permission problem or a corrupt database driver.

Can you reinstall Crystal?

Has any new software or upgrades been done on the machine?
If so try to create a NEW connection to the database rather than using the existing one.
