Oracle 9i Forms - Runtime Browser Crashes

When I run a Form within Oracle Forms, a browser opens up (I.E.) and immediately it crashes with the IE window stating:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you were in the middle of something, the information you were looking on might be lost.

For more information about this error, click here.

Debug              Close

So when I did "click here", I get the following:

Error signature

  AppName:  iexplorer.exe   AppVer: 7.0.5730.11    ModName:  jvm.dll
  ModVer: 0.0.0.0    Offset: 000495ba

Then it has a stack report.  Too much to post.

I know it works on Internet Explorer 6 but not on 7.  It does work on Mozilla's FireFox.  I recently had my hard drive replaced as the old one crashed so I'm re-establishing my environment.

I'm running on

HP Compaq PC
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer 7.0.5.
Forms [32 Bit] Version 9.0.2.7.0 (Production)
Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.5.1.0 - Production
With the Partitioning and Objects options
     PL/SQL Release 8.0.5.1.0 - Production
Oracle Toolkit Version 9.0.4.0.23 (Production)
PL/SQL Version 9.0.1.3.1 (Production)

It crashes everytime, even if I type in the URL directly into a browser.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gio

Quite expected. I personally have not started using IE 7 because I've heard of many such issues. For all you know it could be a bug

BTW do you use any applets?

ASKER

Well it's just Oracle 9i Forms, which it is supposed to download JInitiator applet one-time only when you open up the form in IE for the first time.
>> to download JInitiator applet

What is the Java version being used in IE?
The JRE - Java Runtime Environment is 1.5_0_11  but I have the option unchecked in the options for the browser.

So I have Microsoft's JVM (Java Virtual Machine).

In Firefox, I'm using the Jinitiator which is 1.3.1.8 and it works fine there.

Try checking it and then try with that version. Also in IE 6, was that option checked?

I did that and still same thing.  The option wasn't checked because I also use PVCS Manager (web version) and it fails with that, so here at work I have it unchecked.  Same thing in I.E. 6

You mean it works with that or it doesn't? You had said earlier it worked with IE 6. What was the Java version it used?
Oh the form did come up with I.E. 6 using the JInitiatior 1.3 but I had to have the Java's version of the VM option unchecked in IE options.

This is the fix for the browser crashing when you try to run JInitiator.

Copy the jvm.dll from
 Your (directory)
 C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\client
 to (directory)
 C:\Program Files\Oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.22\bin\hotspot
