monitor problem
acera 19 inch
xp
-------------------------- ---------- -
hi,
i bought a new acera 19 inch widescreen monitor and have been struggling for the past 4+hours.
the manual says the monitor should be set to 1440 x 900. but i can't set that in the display>properties>setting s.
i installed powerstrip, had no real clue as to how to use it, then i updated from my plug and play driver to the acera 1917 driver and then the computer would not complete start-up.
soooo then i plugged in an old monitor started in vga and rolled back everything.
my 19 inch monitor is out of proportions and the only setting i can set in the display settings that is 16:10 is 1680 X 1050.
my computer is at least 3 years old and the video card is the original. probably b-flat cheap one.
i don't mind spending a few bucks to solve the problem, should i just buy a new video card? would a more current one solve the problem??
any other ideas to get this monitor set to the right settings. i learned from 'you guys' that i need 16:10 for a widescreen. but the only setting i can set to is to big for this monitor!
well thanks for any help you can spare
