upgrade firmware on a P3005D printer with only an usb port. : NAME OF THE USB PORT
upgrade firmware on a P3005D printer with only an usb port.
Windows XP.
The documentation says to issue a cmd like copy /b file.rfu <portname>. If I have a parallel port it's lpt1 for ex.
I have no idea about the port name for USB ports. I have tested usb001->004 dot4usb etc. nothing seems connect to the printer.
Thanks for helping me.

Then, possibly if you follow the instructions, you could use the LPT connection to do the upgrade over.

the dataflex does not seems to work as I'm not able to capture the port. Still I have the question of what's the name of an USB port.

I don't believe this. They are numerous peripherals with only usb ports which need an update of their firmware !
What was the problem in not doing this over parallel?
Can't you just connect this printer up to another computer with parallel - and issue the command over that?

Of course, I also can go to a shop bla bla bla. But If I have 50 printers like this this is not possible...
Sorry but your solution is not acceptable.

That is fine.
I know that this isn't for your printer - but they recommend against doing a firmware update over usb...
