SSL Icon Missing with IE 7

I have a Win XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 SP2 notebook with IE 7 installed. I note that I do not see the SSL padlock icon when I am connected to a secure https site. I do have the status bar on and all else seems to be configured correctly. This same issue exists on a Win Vista Ultimate and a Win XP SP2 machine, both running IE 7.0. Can you help?

The lock does not appear down on the status bar in IE7.  It appears at the end of the address bar up at the top of the screen.

The lock will actually appear next to the address bar, between the address bar and the refresh button.
