problems with pages loading
A friend is bringing over his computer another dell oplex with windows 2000 pro. It works fairly well, but with some probs. The earthlink page is not complete, the connect button is off the page slightly. Also when he goes to load ebay the first page comes up fine, but the second page will not load the items. He has activex on, lowered his security settings etc. A previous questions like this was answered with perhaps an old browser, but with an updated to IE 6 would this still e the problem?

Thanks war1. I used all the steps above and concluded the IE was corrupted. eventually nothing would open an d I couldn't even find explorer on the add/remove program list. then I missed a stop and put on windows xp without removing the old 2000 pro. I should maybe wipe the whole machine, but xp is working very well. I anticipate problems using this machine on dial up. Do you have any thoughts on whether just to leave it alone and fun with the two OS on it or try to remove the old one.

You should back up your data, and do a clean install. The two operating system will eventually conflict at the worst possible time.
