system tray history cleaner

I am using Windows XP. Click the clock, then select properties, then click personalize. How can I clean the list of anterior itens?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try:
Start -> Run -> Regedit      ......... Enter
Navigate to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify

You find 4 keys. Delete  ''IconStreams'' and ''PastIconsStream''.
Restart computer.

or open Task Manager:
GO to ''processes'' ..... find ''explorer.exe''
Kill process using  ''terminate process''
Go to ''application list'' .... click -> ''New process''  and type : ''explorer''...hit enter.

Now check tray application list.

Good luck,
cheers

Hi,
I didn't posted 2 comments, and till now I see only one.
For my tip. Are to ways to refresh your tray application list. Delete those 2 keys and OR REstart OR close explorer and reopen. On me works fine. It removes application from that list with the application that aren't to tray right now.

It worked!

I clicked start, click run, typed regedit, hitted enter. I navigated to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Explorer, TrayNotify, then I deleted PastIconStreams, then I deleted IconStreams, then I restarted Explorer from task manager, then I checked for the anterior items and it worked!

The differences are that I checked the anterior itens before closing explorer from Task Manager and after opening it from Task Manager.
