Is there any reason the server may not have the rights to the folder D:\WSUS\WsusContent\B2?  Permissions, drive full etc.?  I'd try giving the Everyone group full control of D:\WSUS\WsusContent and see if the problem goes away, this will confirm if it's a permissions issue.

All I did when I got this exact error was to configure the proxy seeting on the WSUS Syncronization Options page...  So far so good...  Hope this helps.

If you use or have proxy settings for your internet explorer to be able to browse th internet; those setting should be added to to Options/ Syncronization Options/ Proxy Server on the WSUS server.

We have a firewall and use it as a proxy server so the address to our firewall is what I entered there. Before I did this I had tried all of the other solutions and suggestions that I founf on EE and on the web. I then realized I was getting alerts from my firewall about the server trying to get out to MS.

Any chance you could let us know what solved your problem?  It just means when people search EE in future they'll be able to see the suggested solutions and what actually did the trick in the end.

Thanks!
