We are running MS Exchange 2K3 on a 2K3 Server platform.  Recently, one of my users sent an e-mail to an invalid e-mail address ( She never showed be the return message).  30 days later, she received a delivery failure notice.  Is it possible to set the Time to live of an e-mail message on the server to a 3 day default limit?

Exchange should be set to two days default.

You set the time outs on ESM, Servers, <your server>, Protocols, SMTP. Right click on the SMTP VS and choose Properties. Click on the Delivery tab.

However if you send your email out through a smart host, then those timeouts will do nothing as the smart host controls the timeouts.
