Blackberry Freezes on calendar Sync

I have a user on XPSP2, all patches, etc.  Running Outlook 2003 and a Verizon Blackberry 7250 with Desktop Software version 4.0.  (Don't think it matters for the sync, but we're on Exchange 2003 and use the Desktop Redirector for emails)

Out of nowhere a couple of weeks ago, the Blackberry Sync freezes while Syncing the calendar.  It freezes at the same entry each time.  I enabled advanced logging and get this result:

I can't find these errors anywhere on BB KB or through google or anywhere.

I have tried all of the following:
- Created a new Outlook Profile (made sure to apply new profile in the BB Software as well)
- Repaired Outlook
- Reinstalled Outlook
- Reinstalled BB Desktop Software
- Installed different BB Desktop Software Versions

The only thing that ended up giving me a different result was when I upgraded to BB Desktop Software v 4.2.  On that I end up with the unresponsive error with these details:
AppName: DestopMgr.exe
MOdName:  ilxolk.fil
Offset: 00060c03
This error prevents me from syncing anything - contacts, tasks or calendar.

So, I rolled back to v 4.0 and can't get the calendar to sync.

It's not the BB itself because I set up my 2nd computer with this guy's login and outlook, etc and the Blackberry syns find.  So, I have a workaround for the time being in which I get to syns his BB 10 times a day, but clearly this is not ideal.

Anyone have any suggestions?  Please let me know if I need to supply any further info.  I think I got everything though.

Also - where it freezes, it give me an entry number.  It says - 3735 out of 5,234.  If anyone knows how I can find calendar entry #3735, I'd be more than happy to delete it and see if that resolves the issue!!

Yes, one calendar entries is causing the problem and to find out which one of the 5,234 entries is going to be difficult. The problem with finding the bad calendar entry is that the BB does not sync them in order. Number 3735 might be the 120th calendar entry.

Can you run repair on his mail file on the server? Perhaps that will fix his calendar. If that doesn't work.....

I would create a pst, copy, not move, all of the calendar entries into the new pst. Easy to do if you sort by category.
Create a new pst, File ~ Datafile Management ~ Add (Office Outlook personal...)
After you create the new pst, right click on it in the navigation pane and choose new folder.
In the drop down select Calendar items.
In the user's origional calendar sort the view.
View  ~ Arrange by ~ Category.
Select all copy
Open the new calendar and paste the entries.
Once you are certain you have a good backup, it's time to start deleting calendar entries in the original calendar. I would start with old calendar entries and then recurring meetings/appointments.

Mostly caused by repeating entries or a corrupted appointment.

I would try to use debug logs if possible or to delete all the entries and force the BB to push them back to the desktop Outlook.

I would use the latest BB desktop for this if possible.

You need to run the microsoft office scanpst.exe application as that will remove any corrupt objects from your PST file.  The exe should be located here: drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12

Thanks for all the  responses.  I finally got it to work, but only by installing and reinstalling several different versions of the BB Desktop Software.  the one that works is - version - April 27, 2005.

SysExpert - I already enabled advanced logging and it was only giving me the error I pasted above.
I've used that before on another machine that wouldn't sync and found the conflicting appointment (a google  calendar invite) immediately.  on this machine, it's not working the same - the only thing it's showing is the  Error 3.30023.  I also can't delete his calendar and push back from the BB as the blackberry is only set to transfer a certain number of items, so it would only give him a couple weeks worth of stuff in his calendar.  (unless I don't fully understand how the BB works).

Francko - I tried repairing from the server - nothing changed.  I did not try your other suggestion as I just can't sit there and delete 5,000 appointments one at a time.  Also - I feel like it's something else since it syncs fine on another computer....

Garycutri - I got it working before I saw this post, and I'm willing to try it to see if it works, I'm just going to let it sit for right now, as he finally has a working BB and I'm not in the mood to shake the boat right now.  :)

I have the exact same problem. If I perform a handheld wipe on the blackberry, resetting it back to factory defaults and wiping all info, it then syncs ok but the fault returns a couple of weeks later.
