Cisco 3750 question.

HI there, I have afew questions regarding the cisco 3750 layer 3 switch and how they work.
-how do you configure it to route, can you assign an ip address to a vlan interface or a single switch port and have that be a routing interface? should they then show as connected interfaces in rotuing table. I've just done CCNA and they dont cover layer 3 switches, I have a couple to use but am unsure exactly how they work as a switch and a router.
-Thanks.
