I'm running Exchange 2007 and I'm trying to get our EMC CX 300 and our backupexec 11 D to relay messages to us through our mail server and I can not get this to work.

I have followed:

and

Not sure what the problem is. The backup server is in another domain and forest but is on the same VLAN. The SAN is also on the same vlan.

Any Ideas?

Hi

Two simple suggestions that have worked for me:
1.  enable SMTP logging, send a test message and check the log.  you may find valuable info.
2.  specifically add the IP of the systems attempting to relay as "allowed to relay".  I've had problems where a vbscript refused to send email through Exchange because it didn't authenticate like an Outlook client would.  When I added the IP as allowed to relay, the email went through.  Good luck!
