HTTP 401.1 - Unauthorized: Logon Failed IIS server on xp pro

I installes iis server on my xp pro,when am running localstart.asp page i am promtiing the authentication.when i provide use name and password i am getting an error like

You need to check the authentication of your site.

There are 2 things that can cause this:  1 is that your authentication is set for Integrated only and not anonymous, and the second is that the folder that it is trying to access does not have permissions for the anonymous user that is there by default.

Check in the properties of the website in IIS Manager (inetmgr) on the Directory Security tab, and the top button Authentication to make sure that either Anonyous is checked or Integrated.

Next check the folder that is referenced by the Website in Explorer and right click on the folder and check the Security tab and make sure that the IUSR_MACHINENAME or whatever user is in the Anonymous authentication is in there with at least Read access.
