Hi does anyone know of any software that can count the number of pages in a PDF document without opening it. I have 300 pdf files to go through and i need to know the number of pages in each document, and i dont want to open each file every time.

What you need to do is view the file's advanced metadata without opening it.

There are a few free tools that can do this, discussed here: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc34f66

These read the same information you get when you open a PDF in Reader and select 'Document properties'.

There is also a link to a Java SDK so you could write your own to specifically grab the page total information and nothing else.

Thanks. it had the tool apgetpagecount which has saved alot of work.
