VB - Credit Card integration / SDK

Hello,

I have a developed a complete point of sale system that I want to start integrating credit card processing into it. I would like to know if there are SDK' package or Activex/DLL component that I can buy to process Credit Card Transactions within my application.

I know that some Merchants offer API or SDK to communicate with their systems but I would be locked into doing processing with their systems only. I am looking for somewhat universal solution tool that allows me to do processing with different CC processing gateways.

Just incase you might need to know: The system is a Windows based (VB6), Internet connectivity available.

There is really not one since you have to connect to that gateway (LinkPoint, Payflow, Authorize.net) to connect to the transaction processor (and possibly the card association).

Most scripts / carts support variations to connect to the specific gateways.  You might look into offering different options

Corey,

Thank you for the prompt response, The only reson that I was looking for a universal solution because from time to time credit card processors may change some requirements for their gateway connections.

Do you suggect that I create a sperate DLL to interface between my POS and the credit card processor gateway? would that be a good practice?

But Also I came across a product called PC Charge from VeriFone http://www.pccharge.net to allow for creditcard processing, but I am not sure if there are any comparible product that allows credit card processing similar to PC Charge, to be somewhat cost effective.

Yes.  I am assuming that you have developed a point of sale system that you wish to sell to merchants.  Chances are, merchants will already have a merchant account and maybe an electronic payment gateway.  You want to make it as easy as possible for the to connect to their preferred gateway.

Depending on where your market is - let's say the US.  Then I would focus on LinkPoint, Payflow, Authorize.net and Paypal (they also have different variations as well).

Or are you wanting to develop a gateway?  This is something a bit different.  There are also opportunities where you could connect to each gateway but provide one simple connection.  Of course, you would need to be PCI Compliant on both cases as well.

Corey,

Thank you for the info. from your answer I started to looking into the PCI Complient site and I will be going into creating lib. that will communicate with various gateways as needed.
