how to format date in datagrid asp.net 1.1

I have date column which iam showing in the datagrid of asp.net 1.1
but i want to format the date before displaying it
how can i do this

in the designer of that datagrid set the [ColumnName].Format to the string representation of how you want the date to display here is the reference link on MSDN for what are valid settings:
