Glutathione is a tripeptide made of the amino acids glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. It is an anti oxidant protecting cells from toxins. Glutathione is normally found in cells and participates in chemical reactions. Certain enzymes need this to work. Glutathione is not absorbed very well by the gut and is of not much help, though it is promoted as a health medicine.  It can be synthesized in the body itself if enough of the aminoacids mentioned above are present in the food. Deficiency can lead to certain diseases like anaemia but does not appear a common problem. So probably it is not worth checking for this in the normal situation apart from researching in laboratories and on special situations.
